Kathy

My Mother-in-law, Kathy, had a hard day yesterday. When she woke up in the morning, she was experiencing some tingling in her arms and numbness in her hands. As she was trying to get ready to go to the Dr., she began to have some chest pain. She was taken to the hospital in Roosevelt and they could not determine what was happening--all of the bloodwork was coming back that it was not a heart-attack, but all the signs were pointing to that. As she began to get worse and have more severe pains, they made the decision to life-flight her out to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo. They determined that she had a 90% blockage of the main artery that feeds into her heart. The Dr. said that the blockage was very serious and it was quite high up in the artery. They went in and put a stent in.
The Dr. said that her heart is very strong and that once they got the stent put in, the blood flowed around the blockage well. They kept her overnight and they will then determine if she is ok to leave today or if she needs further monitoring.
Lanny stayed overnight with us and he left early this morning to go over to the hospital. David and Jill and their kids stayed over also and they left around 9:30 to go see Kathy.
Tracy just called and said that Kathy is doing better this morning. They are going in to do another EKG this morning and then if everything shows OK on that, they will see if they can get her up and moving a little. If she can get up and move alright, they will go ahead and release her to go home.
This modern medicine is amazing. You go from almost having a heart-attack one day and they just insert a stent through your leg (only a small pin-prick hole) and you are feeling better and free to leave the next day. We will continue to pray for her quick recovery.

I'm glad they were able to catch this before it really became a problem. I hope she recovers quickly!

I am so glad that you guys were able to be out there with her. That is one thing that I love about your family you are always so supportive and there when someone needs you. I will never forget your visits to the NICU or Tracy coming up at any hour to assist Brian in giving the twins blessings. Thanks for all that you do!
