Lion King and the Mayan

ALL OF THESE NEXT SEVERAL POSTS ARE WAY OUT OF ORDER, BUT I AM WAY BEHIND IN POSTING, SO YOU GET WHAT YOU GET!!
On Saturday, August 21 we had tickets to go see the Lion King at the Capitol Theatre in Salt Lake. I had a few extra tickets that we sold and we took some of the money and took the family out to a fun dinner at the Mayan beforehand. The kids always like the atmosphere of the Mayan with the divers and everything.
You can't take pictures inside the theatre, so I didn't get any and we were running a little late so we didn't get any outside either but suffice it to say that we had a great time. I had seen Lion King on Broadway a few years ago when I went with my parents and Angie. We had a great time then and we enjoyed the play very much. The costumes are so amazing and the message is good.
The Lion King did not let us down in Salt Lake. They had to re-do the stage in order to accomodate the play and it was amazing. They brought out all the animals in the beginning including the great big elephant and it was so neat to see. We were all so grateful that we had the chance to go and that we could enjoy it with the whole family.

Hayden and Katie's teeth

I took the two little ones and went out to Roosevelt for Tracy's company Summer party. While we were out there, the kids started wiggling their loose teeth. I told them that I would pay the kid who got their tooth out first a dollar before the tooth fairy came so they started working on them. These teeth have been loose for a long time but my kids are wimps when it comes to pulling teeth. Katie got hers out first and Hayden finally got his out shortly after. Hayden's tooth was already almost half grown in behind it. They both lost one of their front four bottom teeth, just on the opposite side of the mouth. I made them wait a couple days for the tooth fairy so I could get pictures and by then we had all forgotten about the extra dollar.

Alexa Girls Camp 2010

Alexa got back from Michigan (see the out of order post down below)on Saturday, July 24 and she left for girls camp on Monday morning, July 26. We picked her up a day early from girls camp to take her to the Ross family campout (which I need to get pictures of since my camera was dead by then from all of it's travels). She was a second year beehive and it was stake camp so she was able to be with some of her best friends.

Alexa goes to Michigan

Alexa had the fun opportunity to go back to Michigan with Grandma McQuivey to spend some time with her cousins there and to help Grandma when she went back to stay with Angie's girls while Angie was at girls camp. She will have to blog about her experience more sometime, but I just wanted to finally get the pictures on here before something happened to them. She had a great time and she did well for being gone nearly 2 weeks and being the child that likes to stay closest to home.

First day of 2010-2011 school year

The four younger (but not so young) kids started back to school today. Landon is starting his junior year of high school and he is doing an internship at a physical therapy place for 2 periods every A day (they switch off A & B days) He is excited and he seems to be enjoying this time in his life.
Alexa is starting 8th grade. She is excited to be back with her friends but she is really nervous to sing in front of everyone in choir.
Hayden is starting second grade and his teacher is Mrs. Pugh. Alexa had her for half a year in second grade when Alexa's teacher delivered a premature baby and didn't come back to teach. She should be a good fit for Hayden.
Katelyn has Ms. Robison for first grade. She is the same teacher that Hayden had last year. She is super excited and she thinks that Ms. Robison is the best. I'm excited for Ms. Robison to see that not all my kids are as rowdy as Hayden.
Speaking of the little devil, I got a call just as I had sat down to our Tuesday afternoon staff meeting at work. I didn't recognize the number so I ignored the call. After a few minutes I got a call from Whitney and I ignored that too. She called back and I ignored it and told her to text me. Right after her call I got two calls from Tracy and ignored them and told him to text me as well. Pretty soon, Tracy sends me a text and said that Hayden got in a fight at school and he had a major bloody nose and they needed me to run him some clothes. I could not believe that he would start being such a stinker so soon. Then Tracy text me that he was kidding about the fighting part but that some kid had opened up the door and as it swung open it smacked Hayden hard in the nose and he had blood everywhere. They said they usually try to just turn the kids shirt inside out and let them deal with that for the rest of the day but it was so much blood that they needed new clothes. Tracy was able to get a hold of Whitney and she ran him up some clothes and took care of the situation. Just his luck to have that happen on the first day in his favorite new (white) shirt!

PACK TRIP

Whitney had the fun opportunity to go on a pack trip with her dad, Grandpa Ross and several of her uncles. Hayden was going to go but he chickened out at the last minute. I think that everyone was very impressed with Whitney and she really held her own well. She had a great time and it was really good for her to be able to get to know everyone better. She caught a couple fish and one of them was pretty good size. It will be a great memory that she can have forever.
