Valentines Day 2010

Tracy was home for Valentines day. I had to work, but Tracy showed up at work with 2 dozen red and white roses. Red is for love and white is for eternal, so he wanted me to know that they stood for eternal love. I'm sure a lucky lady to have married such a thoughful man. We got engaged just before Valentines day 21 years ago!

Snuggle time

Whitney always wants someone to come snuggle with her. Hayden and Katie finally obliged and Whitney wanted me to snap a picture so that she could document that they did. One thing we do have is love.

Landon heading off to Sweethearts

Landon was asked to go to the Sweethearts dance by a cute little girl named Shayla. They all looked great and they had a good time.

The things we missed

The next several posts are of some of the things that we missed posting. Better late than never I guess. We played sports, we went on hikes, we spent some great times as a family, we celebrated holidays and in general, we just enjoyed life.

Whitney was heading off snowboarding with a friend so she was all dressed and ready to go but she took the time to celebrate a little with us. The kids all got pillow pets from Grandma and Grandpa Ross and Hayden and Katie also got the same ones from Santa--funny.

Whitney opened her Christmas-eve pajamas and Ladon got underwear and undershirts since he doesn't wear pajamas. We took the traditional Christmas morning picture on the stairs and Santa came.

Somewhere in here, we missed Halloween. I guess I deleted the picture--nice. Just take my word for it, we had Halloween. Hayden dressed up as the grim reaper and Katie was a sweet little witch. Right after the kids went out, we had a huge rain/hail storm come up. I was finishing dinner and I had planned to meet them but when that kicked in, I wanted to kick myself for letting them go out. I hopped in the car and had Alexa help me look for them. They were up on one of the neighbor's covered porches. We ended up driving around the rest of the night.
Hayden and Katie got to go out to Roosevelt and go to a company party for Tracy's work. They had such a good time, they got to see Santa and make crafts.
The second grade did a Christmas play and Hayden even had a small speaking part.

Alexa sang in the Mapleton Jr. High Choir for the second year. In one picture she is just behind the piano and the microphone--good luck on the other one. She always does a good job and I hope that she will stick with choir for a long time.

Hayden played flag football. On the last game, his coach brought cupcakes. The blue under his eyes is the frosting off his cupcake (the coach gave them that idea). He had wonderful coaches that were so great to work with him. Their team ended up taking 2nd at the tournament. Way to go Hayden!
What I didn't get pictures of is Hayden playing on his soccer team and Katie playing on hers. They both had a great time and enjoyed the season.

We went on a few hikes over last Summer and Fall. We enjoy our time together as a family.

Good attitude and sunshine

Whitney and I teach Sunbeams together and it is a riot. Sunday the lesson was 'Heavenly Father and Jesus love me'. The manual said to go around the room and ask the kids to name one person that loves them and to say how that person shows their love for them. I got to the first little girl-Millie and I asked her the question. She pondered for a minute and then she said "everybody who knows me loves me". If only we all had that same attitude.
I took the kids to the park the other day because it warmed up to 45 degrees. There were kids there in shorts and short sleeve shirts and several kids without shoes. Oh how we love the sunshine. Funny how when it has been Summer and it is going into Fall, 45 degrees feels cold but when it has been Winter and we are coming back into Spring it feels nice and warm.
At church on Sunday the kids were being extra rowdy. I told them we were going to take a little walk because Heavenly Father had given us a nice, warm, sunny day and the same little girl had just come home from Hawaii and she said "we brought the sunshine back with us from Hawaii". I told her we really appreciated that.

Play by play

Hayden had to come into the dentist office yesterday to have 2 of his front teeth pulled so they can put more braces on to close the gap created by his pallet expander. Tracy brought him in and Katie came with them. Tracy stayed over and sat by me while I worked--we had a horribly crazy day because one of the front office girls was sick and so I had to sit up front and do her job as well as my own--and it was a Monday.
When they took Hayden back, Katie went with him. We could see in the room from where we were and she was in there holding and patting his hand and she would give him a play by play. "Hayden, one is small and the other one is humongous", "There is a LOT of blood", "It's ok, Hayden, It's ok". When they were done, the Dr. and the assistant were just laughing about it all. I came in and they showed me the teeth. One of the teeth could have probably been wiggled out if he had really tried, but the other, the root had not resorbed on his baby tooth so it might have always needed help. I told Hayden that he was lucky because the tooth fairy would come and he would get paid for 2 teeth at one time. Katie looked at him and said "no, you don't get money if someone else has to pull your teeth".
Those two are crack-ups. We decided that Katie should be a play-by-play announcer when she grows up.
